Today I had the pleasure of fishing with Wayne and his wife Angela. It was a weird day – it was chilly all day and it started off blowing 15-20 out of the NW, slicked up for a few hours and finished off 15-20 out of the SW. Strange.

Things were definitely a bit messed up by the big blow the days prior (and the odd weather around the day)but we still managed a decent catch. We caught a big blue first thing and then moved on to do some bucktailing for flounder – Angela quickly landed a nice 4lb flattie. After that it slowed down – a few undersized flatties, a near legal gag grouper, seabass, a nice trigger fish, etc. So we switched gears and i went looking for some AJs – I found a few of them but they wanted nothing to do with my little peanut menhaden (where are the big pogies?!? We need some!!).

We finished off the day pulling live cigars and had a few knockdowns and we landed a beast 7.5lb Bonito before calling it quits due to the quickly building seas.

Good job guys! I wish it could have been as hot as the days prior – but that’s just fishing sometimes.
