THE BOATS

At Waterdog Guide Service, my committment to customer service is paramount and I have pledged to offer only the most comfortable, safe and fishing-friendly boats available. In pursuit of excellence, I have teamed up with two of the area's best boat builders and dealers so that I can offer the best two-boat inshore fishing platform of any guide in the state of North Carolina!

Our Sponsors

Nearshore and Offshore - 2007 Parker 2300 Deep-Vee.

While many other guides opt for rough-riding and wet bayboats, I provide my clients with the most comfortable, dry and fisherman-friendly boat available. My Parker 23' deep-vee is the Cadillac of the center consols. With 21 degrees of deadrise, the deep-vee hull provides a smooth, extremely dry ride that cannot be matched by other boats of its class. Powered by a 250HP Yamaha four-stroke, the outboard is extremely quiet and completely smoke free! With that sort of power on the back we are able to get to the fishing grounds fast. This model hull also features a full transom (with a BIG insulated fishbox) with the outboard mounted on a recessed bracket which gives us tons more fishing room and makes the boat ride like a 25 footer!

In addition to the smooth ride, she is also equipped with a t-top and full curtains - the t-top provides my clients with plenty of shade and the curtains mean that you will be dry in all weather and warm in the colder months. All my electronics are the latest technology such as my Raymarine Color GPS and digital sonar (fish-finder), auto-pilot and XM satellite weather (new for 2007)! There is also ample dry storage to safely stow any of your belongings. In addition to all these extras, she provides all the other necessary features such as a large live-well, 2 large/insulated fish boxes and ample rod storage - so we're ready for whatever fish come our way!

I have also rigged my Parker to be very fly-rod friendly for those of us who like to use the long rod. But whether we’re trolling for king mackerel and mahi-mahi, bottom-fishing for flounder or fly-fishing for Bonito or False Albacore - my Parker, hands down, is the best nearshore center consol for the job.

Backwaters, Marsh and Flats - 2007 Jones Brothers 20' Bateau

The Jones Brothers name is legendary when it comes to light-tackle skiffs and inshore boats. My Bateau is no exception. Easily the best built and designed skiff on the market, the Bateau offers a ride that cannot be matched by other skiffs of its class. Fast and nimble on the turns, it also takes a chop well and gets us across the open waters of the sound as dry as can be. Powered by a quiet (smoke free!) 90HP Yamaha four-stroke, our top speed is close to 40 mph allowing us to go just about anywhere in the backwaters in minutes!

With a draft of less than 8" inches, my Bateau can get into the skinniest of waters. That allows us to pursue redfish and speckled trout in areas that the vast majority of anglers only dream of reaching. In addition, I have also equipped the skiff with a hydraulic jack-plate that allows me to run in less than 6" of water while on plane making travel faster and more direct! To aid with sight-fishing and to allow us to get deep into the grass flats to pursue tailing drum, I have a custom made poling platform/tower to make poling a breeze.

I have equipped my bateau with a high-powered Minn-Kota autopilot trolling motor and a Powerpole hydraulic anchoring system. In addition, she provides ample rod (and fly-rod) storage, a large live-well and bountiful dry storage. I spared no expense so that we can pursue red drum (and flounder and speckled trout) year round in all the backwaters and estuaries. My equipment allows us to use many tactics and pursue fish during all tides and even in areas that are extremely difficult for most fishermen to access. Whether you want to spin-fish for drum, sight-fish for tailing fish or cast for trout in the creeks - we are more than prepared!

In addition to its many fishing features, my Bateau also doubles as my waterfowl hunting platform. The olive drab and tan coloration makes camouflaging the boat a breeze, and the bountiful space allows me to carry a couple hundred decoys, up to three hunters, a dog and all the other massive amounts of gear needed for a successful waterfowl hunt.

In addition, at WaterDog Guide Service, I am very committed to safety. We supply only the best safety equipment and all my boats are 100% compliant with the United State Coast Guard regulations. In the extremely rare case of an accident, unlike many illegitimate operations, my guide/charter service is fully insured for my clients' protection.
