Gulf Flounder, thoughts on Southern Flounder and Management Options.

By |May 7th, 2015|

Right now flounder is THE big topic in North Carolina fisheries. If you follow NC fisheries politics – it’s probably front and center for you. If you don’t get into the policy side of things and just like to fish – flounder is probably on your mind. More specifically – where did they go? Why […]

Last few days…

By |April 19th, 2015|

Been a cloudy week with north winds making it hard to get off the beach. We found a lot of bluefish and gray trout off the beaches, sea mullet in the inlet. We witnessed a very, very large thresher shark chase a bluefish on our line in 8′ of water near the pier. Incredible animal.

Water […]

Grouper, Jacks and everything else

By |June 19th, 2014|

Before I get into the report I just want to thank all my customers for what has been an incredibly easy month – not easy on the knees and back – but easy on the soul as every day I’ve returned to the dock, regardless of the quality of the fishing, such great times were […]

By |May 28th, 2014|

Here’s a short update on what’s been happening so far in 2014 and wow has May been busy for me. Inshore and offshore we’ve been doing it all.

Inshore – things are still heating up on the red drum side of things – like most years, it will just get better as we get further in […]

Great Bonito in 2014

By |May 28th, 2014|

This year the Bonito run was absolutely fantastic. While my time at the roanoke limited my effort this year in the peak of the season, Neal caught our first fish on April 1#th and was steady until the 1rst week of May. They slowed down after a few days of wacky weather and ended with […]

So I went back to the Roanoke River…

By |May 28th, 2014|

After a 3 season hiatus I sfound myself back at the Roanoke River this past April for a week. Truthfully it was to help out my friend Dean Lamont, but I have to say that I simply had a ball.

The water was fairly high this year but the fishing was so consistent – 60-100+ fish […]

Too. Busy. To. Update. #TIMETOFISH

By |August 5th, 2013|

Im too busy to post pictures.

Inshore? Great Reds – exploring lots and lots of new water, particularly in the “gill net free” sanctuaries of eastern Carteret county. Reds are everywhere. The trout are really chewing too – more everyday. Ive caught more 4-5lbrs this summer than in several years prior.

Sharks? Spin and fly – amazing.

Nearshore? […]

Jacks on Fly

By |June 6th, 2013|

This is a little teaser for a few upcoming clients and per an email conversation.

The jack fishing everywhere is as good as I’ve experienced in years – better than the incredible fly and topwater bite of 5+ years ago. Plus – they are just everywhere

Kyle had a good bite this morning despite the swell […]
