I took out Ben and his Buddy on Sunday morning – both offshore fisherman but love their trout and wanted to learn a little bit about catching speckled trout on artificials – general things, areas. what to look for, etc. Ben brought along a few bags of those new Berkeley GULP Baits and i have to say – i was impressed, the trout sure did like them.

Every hole we visited produced fish – even holes that i havent caught fish in for years. The first spot produced fish on almost every cast for around two hours – over the day we probably caught somewhere between 75 and 100 fish. We didn’t find any large fish today but the spikes were out en force – if there were some bigguns around, we just couldnt get the baits through the spikes…

The recent, and extremely low, low tides have made it hard to get to some of my favorite spots – and have reduced others to mere puddles. Next week sure will be hot 😉
